Stone Technologies Acquires EISgroup

To continue its history of adding great people to its organization, Stone Technologies has acquired EISgroup, an Indianapolis-based Engineering and Information Solution provider.  According to Don Ulrich, President of Stone Technologies “This acquisition allows Stone to grow into a talented 50 person organization, with presence in 11 states and 1 Canadian province.”  The new organization will continue to be called Stone Technologies, Inc. and will remain headquartered in St. Louis, MO.

Brad Downen—MES/MOM Project Manager

Stone Technologies is pleased to announce the addition of Brad Downen as an MES/MOM Project Manager.  With his 17 years’ experience in both information solutions and control systems, Downen will be a strong addition to Stone’s Project Management team.

Over the past 9 years, Downen has carried the role of President and co-owner of Indianapolis based system integration company EISgroup.  The merger of EISgroup and Stone Technologies is a natural outcome of two companies that have been long time allies in the System Integrations world, specifically with MES/MOM solutions.
Complementing his long history with controls system and software design and development, Downen has primarily played management roles ranging from Business Development to Program Management.  Downen has a very high customer satisfaction record and many of his primary customers continue maintaining their current relationships.  His deepest industry knowledge resides with Glass Bottling.  Over the past 13 years, he has worked in 23 different US glass plants.

Prior to EISgroup, Downen worked at Rockwell Automation-Indianapolis for 5 years with roles ranging from Project Engineer to Software Solution Service Manager.

Downen resides in Saint Louis, Missouri and has earned two Bachelor of Science degrees in Physics and Mathematics from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Downen is not only passionately dedicated to his work, but also to being a loving husband and father to his 3 children (all under 3 years of age).  Other precious minutes of his life are spent singing at his Parish and playing Sand Volleyball with his wife. 

Alan Stanfill—MES/MOM Project Manager

Stone Technologies is pleased to announce the addition of Alan Stanfill as an MES/MOM Project Manager. His background and experience in information systems sales and design will be a strong addition to Stone’s project management staff. His location in the St. Charles, MO area will also better serve Stone’s clients in that region.
Alan has worked over twelve years selling, designing, implementing, and supporting information systems in various manufacturing vertical markets.

Alan has a strong background in HMI, database, and reporting design.  Alan has extensive experience in the field spanning from sales to architecture to delivery. He enjoys helping clients deploy solutions to better understand their operations through technology. Alan hopes to further his career growth at Stone through more exposure to Business Intelligence and MES/MOM design and implementation.

Alan is a resident of St. Charles, MO and has several Rockwell Software certifications on various products. When not spending time with his family, he enjoys hunting, fishing, volleyball, and being involved at his local church.

David Hackstadt—Control Systems Engineer

Stone Technologies is pleased to announce the addition of David Hackstadt as a Control Systems Engineer. His background and experience in control systems programming and design will be a strong addition to Stone’s engineering staff. Located in the Indianapolis, IN area he will also help Stone better serve their clients in the Midwest.

David has over 25 years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting SCADA and control systems in various industries ranging from water/wastewater, automotive, paint/finishing, material handling, glass and many other types of manufacturing.  

David has an extensive background in HMI and PLC programming across many different hardware and software platforms.  He also has hands-on experience with instrumentation, final control elements, and communications networks between field and control room devices.  David has always strived to increase his knowledge of new and emerging technologies and hopes to help Stone’s Customers deploy advanced and cost effective controls solutions throughout their facilities.

David has lived in the Indianapolis area for more than 25 years.  His interests include reading, backpacking, mountain biking, and gardening.

Michael Welch—Control Systems Engineer

Stone Technologies is pleased to announce the addition of Michael Welch as a Control Systems Engineer. His background and experience in control systems, graphical programming and design will be a strong addition to Stone’s engineering staff.

Welch was one of the founders of EISgroup, Inc. (Engineering and Information Solutions Group) and served many industrial segments for over 9 years until merging and joining forces with Stone Technologies.  Serving varied industrial clients in diverse manufacturing disciplines, he has been involved in all stages of the project lifecycle; from design to final commissioning.

Welch is highly graphically oriented and develops intuitive, eye-friendly HMI that communicates with the operator effectively, and allows managers to make timely key decisions with real-time data and conditions.  His efforts to reduce large amounts of critical information into usable and immediately recognizable graphical representations help make manufacturing efficient and safe.  Welch anticipates contributing to Stone’s endeavors by satisfying existing clients as well as collaborating with, and utilizing Stone Technologies resources.  Together, they should manage to deliver stronger solutions to present and newly developed cliental.

Welch is a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana and has a BS from Ball State University’s College of Applied Science and Technology in Muncie, Indiana.   He has two sons with his wife of 26 years and is a founding member of the Board of Directors for a local K-12 Charter School, as well as Committee Chair for a 100 year old Boy Scout Troop.  Welch is very involved in his church and enjoys songwriting and playing guitar.
